Thank you!

Thanks everyone for participating in the Battles of the Doms so far! This is really fun.

The votes are still coming in so I’ll let the Doms duke it out a bit longer…say…until May 1st. Then we’ll see who the winners are!

Yay for fun silly stuff. 🙂

Battle of the Doms, Part III

Well, there’s only one more battle to have right now, since the other Doms who are going to battle aren’t actually published yet.

The last poll this week is about Matthew and Daniel, the Doms in my first two books. Strangely enough, these Doms were both inspired by various sides of the same person. Matthew, of course, is much grittier (“grittier” is the nice word I use for “asshole”) and Daniel is more nurturing. Daniel is an artistic type, while Matthew is a straightlaced business type (who nonetheless appreciates art.) But both of them are sadists, of course, and both care deeply for the woman they’re involved with. I think they’re BOTH hot. What do you think?

Battle of the Doms, Part II

Oh man, this is really fun. When I checked this morning, Jeremy was winning the Battle of the Doms over Kyle, 10 to nothing. Now he’s ahead 15 to 2! You pervs! To be honest, I voted for Jeremy too. I really love the asshole Doms, and then when they redeem themselves… Hoo-ey. Hold me back, baby.

Okay, so today let’s consider Dave, the photographer Dom of Deep in the Woods, and Ryan, the surgeon Dom of Fortune. Dave and Ryan were best friends from childhood, and both rather similar in the fact that they took on damaged and somewhat conflicted submissives. Most importantly, both of them managed, with the help of their lovely ladies, to steer through to a Happily Ever After. So which one turned you on more?

Battle of the Doms, Part I

It probably won’t surprise you to learn that as I write each book, I grow VERY attracted to the dominants in each story. I live with them for months, daydream about them, imagine their lives above and beyond what ends up in the story. Each one romances me, surprises me, and sometimes pisses me off!

Even when a book is long released and I’ve moved on to other things, each one of these men stays in my heart. Really, each couple stays in my heart–Matthew and Lucy, Daniel and Wednesday, Jeremy and Nell, Kyle and Caressa and so on. But when you come down to it, it’s the men I’m really attached to, I suppose because I’m a woman.

I noticed something else as I was looking back on my backlist so far. Each of my Doms seems to have a related counterpart. Some are obvious. Jeremy and Kyle go together because their books were related. Same with Dave and Ryan. Matthew and Daniel go together because they’re the first Doms I wrote. The Devil Earl of Cait and the Devil and Lord Ashbourne of the upcoming Lily Mine go together because they’re the only historical Doms I’ve written. Mephisto will have a counterpart in the edgy hero of the book I’m writing now, Cirque du Minuit. (He is tentatively named Theo.) That leaves Firebird‘s Jackson as an outcast. Well, he was a straight male choreographer, after all. Perhaps he will find a like spirit in Will, the linguist in The Edge of the Earth.

At any rate, I thought it would be fun to poll my readers about some of these Dominant dyads. Let’s start with the obvious…now that Caressa’s Knees is out and many of you have read it, which Dominant does it for you the most? Jeremy or Kyle? If you like you can explain your choice in the comments section, or just see how your vote compares to the other readers who respond. Thanks for playing! Tomorrow–Part II!!

Lily Mine and other news

A lot of readers have been asking about Lily Mine. As many of you know, Ellora’s Cave’s pulled my historical fantasy from the Coming Soon page a week or so before release. Unfortunately the management of Ellora’s Cave and myself had ongoing disagreements about many aspects of the book, to include third party pricing and pivotal aspects of Lily Mine‘s plot. In the end, we couldn’t reconcile our differences. I requested to have the rights reverted back to me, and Ellora’s Cave complied.

What this means is that Lily Mine will be released, but it will take some time. I would like to do some re-writing now that it’s mine again, and then there will be more rounds of editing, proofreading, beta-reading, and formatting to do. One thing that has already been accomplished is this lovely cover by Dara of LFD Designs.

It will probably be a few more months before Lily Mine is ready for release, but I hope you will find it worth the wait. It’s very wistful, sweet and sexy, and will probably appeal most to my romance audiences. I’m working on another book called Cirque du Minuit that will definitely scratch the itch of my grittier BDSM fans. So, don’t fret, there will be something for everyone coming up. Then there is The Edge of the Earth, which will fall somewhere in the middle and — I hope — be unlike any kink romance you’ve read before.

So please stay tuned. The last few months have been a real challenge to me, with many publishing frustrations and disappointments, lost friends, and crazy life turns. But through it all, my readers have supported me and my books have been selling better than ever. I have to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for reading me, recommending me to others, talking about my books on chatboards, book groups, Amazon boards, and all those places readers congregate. Without that support and generous word of mouth, there’s no way my sales would be so great.

And so, as frustrated as I’ve been lately, I’m still writing. As long as you are buying, as long as you are reading and spreading the word, I will continue to write and get my books out to you at the lowest possible prices and the most accessible marketplaces.

Caressa’s Knees is a Blackraven’s Reviews Recommended Read!

Thank you so much, Lea of Blackraven’s Reviews, for reading Caressa’s Knees and giving it a five raven review! Lea also named it a Blackraven’s Reviews Recommended Read. I’m so glad you liked the book.

You can read the full review of Caressa’s Knees here. (click!)

A short excerpt: “The writing takes me back to the beautiful hand written letters composed by my grandmother and great aunts at a time when long-distance phone calls were terribly expensive and all of life’s events and emotions were communicated through long letters. Attention was paid to every pen-stroke and careful consideration given not only to what was written on the page, but what was to be understood by reading between the lines. It is that same attention to detail as well as personal knowledge and experience with the subject matter that brings the characters of Caressa’s Knees to life, and then brings the circumstances of the lives of those characters into the heart of the reader.”

Oh gosh, I think I have never read anything so wonderful and your words almost brought me to tears. I hope you will read Caressa’s Knees if you haven’t had an opportunity yet! It’s only $3.99 on Amazon for a 70K word novel! Thanks everyone for your support, it is so appreciated.

A short excerpt: “Don’t miss Annabel Joseph’s Fortune, another spectacular BDSM read by an author who really understands the psychological needs of both dominants and submissives.”

I hope you’ll check out Fortune if you haven’t yet! Remember, with Ellora’s Cave books it’s much cheaper to buy directly from their website. Click the book to be taken to the sale page.

Caressa’s Knees receives 10 out of 10 stars from BDSM book reviews!

I’d like to thank Kirsten of BDSM Book Reviews for reading and reviewing my new release, Caressa’s Knees. She gave it ten stars out of ten!

You can read the whole review here! (click)

A short excerpt: Caressa’s Knees is the sequel to Comfort Object, and it moved me just as much. The BDSM is no where near as intense, but the emotions and the care and… well, just watching Kyle act and react and decide what to do when he’s the one making the decisions. Beautiful.

Annabel Joseph is a gifted writer, truly skilled in the way she can evoke feelings and emotions with words on a page. Caressa’s Knees is one of her better books, and there is nothing wrong with the others. Also, the BDSM isn’t all that intense, so if you are uncomfortable with the more extreme stuff then this would be a good book of hers to read.”

Thanks so much for taking the time to review it, Kirsten! Be sure to check out the other great reviews at BDSM Book Reviews!

An Interview with Kyle Winchell! And book giveaway!

Oh man, this was so fun. Michelle R. of The Romance Reviews contacted me wanting to interview Kyle, one of the supporting characters from Comfort Object and now the hero of Caressa’s Knees. I was like, whaa? Huh?

But I asked her to send me the questions and it ended up being a total blast! If you have a few minutes, you’ve gotta read this hilarious sit down with Michelle and our handsome hero Kyle. She asked him about his time working for Jeremy, his experiences trying to tame Caressa, and a lot of other things you probably wouldn’t have ever thought to ask.

Michelle interviews Kyle Winchell of Caressa’s Knees and Comfort Object at The Romance Reviews! (click!)

Something else that me and Michelle discovered when we began to talk in acronyms about the books (CO for Comfort Object, CK for Caressa’s Knees) is that when you put the acronyms in order it spells CO/CK. And isn’t it just appropriate? Yeah, um…lol.

Please check out the interview by clicking the link, and leave a comment for a chance to win a free copy of Caressa’s Knees or another Annabel Joseph book of your choice. 🙂

Caressa’s Knees is a Romance Reviews Top Pick!

Many thanks to Michelle R. of The Romance Reviews for taking the time to post a review of my newest release, Caressa’s Knees! She rated it a top pick!

You can read the full review here! (click)

A short excerpt: “Erotic Romance fans, prepare to fall in love. This has to be one of my favorite genre novels of all time. I. Just. Loved. It!!! Sexy, witty, smart, volatile, unpredictable and touching. *sigh* I laughed, I wept, I cheered and I wanted to smack Caressa upside the head and claim Kyle for myself. If you love protective, confident alpha doms and strong willed women, you are going to love Kyle and Caressa.”

Why thank you Michelle! If you haven’t picked up Caressa’s Knees yet, I hope you will give it a try.
