A lot of readers have been asking about Lily Mine. As many of you know, Ellora’s Cave’s pulled my historical fantasy from the Coming Soon page a week or so before release. Unfortunately the management of Ellora’s Cave and myself had ongoing disagreements about many aspects of the book, to include third party pricing and pivotal aspects of Lily Mine‘s plot. In the end, we couldn’t reconcile our differences. I requested to have the rights reverted back to me, and Ellora’s Cave complied.
What this means is that Lily Mine will be released, but it will take some time. I would like to do some re-writing now that it’s mine again, and then there will be more rounds of editing, proofreading, beta-reading, and formatting to do. One thing that has already been accomplished is this lovely cover by Dara of LFD Designs.
It will probably be a few more months before Lily Mine is ready for release, but I hope you will find it worth the wait. It’s very wistful, sweet and sexy, and will probably appeal most to my romance audiences. I’m working on another book called Cirque du Minuit that will definitely scratch the itch of my grittier BDSM fans. So, don’t fret, there will be something for everyone coming up. Then there is The Edge of the Earth, which will fall somewhere in the middle and — I hope — be unlike any kink romance you’ve read before.
So please stay tuned. The last few months have been a real challenge to me, with many publishing frustrations and disappointments, lost friends, and crazy life turns. But through it all, my readers have supported me and my books have been selling better than ever. I have to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for reading me, recommending me to others, talking about my books on chatboards, book groups, Amazon boards, and all those places readers congregate. Without that support and generous word of mouth, there’s no way my sales would be so great.
And so, as frustrated as I’ve been lately, I’m still writing. As long as you are buying, as long as you are reading and spreading the word, I will continue to write and get my books out to you at the lowest possible prices and the most accessible marketplaces.
If you haven’t yet, be sure to drop in over at the new Kinky Ever After blog (click!) and leave a comment for me, Anneke, Candace, or Sindra. We’re having lots of fun pondering the ups and downs and ins and outs of kinkiness and we’re posting several days a week. Hope to see you there!
One last thing: Owning Wednesday is now available, but only through Loose Id. It will come to the bigger booksellers soon but for now, to get your copy, please click the book below!
I’m a big fan of historical romance, so I’m really looking forward to this one. Work fast π
I never knew publisher types had so much say in the plot! I’m glad its ‘yours’ now I’m sure it will be the better for it. ^.^
I look forward to Lily Mine, I really don’t read historical book that much, but I will be looking out for Lily Mine and can’t wait for more books from you.
I just finished Comfort Food by Kitty Thomas and loved it. So I guess I’m a Kink Head right now, who would of thunk it.
Sorry about the trials and tribulations you have faced and hope you got through them with your mind and heart in a better place.
Thanks guys.
@Mockingbird — publishers do sometimes try to have a say in an authors plot, usually in order to try to bring it in line with what they normally sell. Authors don’t have to agree though. And sometimes there is compromise. But usually what you end up reading was at least agreed upon by the author, if not their original plot.

Oh, dear – you, too? I’m notorious for this. Once I’ve got something back in my hands — it’s time for a very rigourous, at times unseemly ripping away of anything I consider outdated and vestigial.
Unfortunately, it’s led to plenty not being published. I’m a perfectionist, I admit, of the highest order – and if it ain’t up to my standards, then back in it goes until it is.
On the flip-side, though, isn’t it fabulous to recover a piece of a manuscript you’re preparing for publication several months – even years – after its writing, and it’s -still- for-lack-of-better – perfect? THAT’s a damned good feeling.
But, like my other author friends remind me – it’s a good thing we consistently improve, and expect more of ourselves as we progress. Then we can look back on our earliest successful work and know that what’s coming will be all that more awesome. (Right? Least we can aim for it!)
Best of luck with getting your latest title out on your OWN terms. That’s become of increasing importance to me, too, and – yes, in the past, a downright deal-breaker. Good for you for sticking to your guns! It’ll pay off – in more ways than one.
Thanks Roulette…I actually made some real headway on my Lily Mine rewrites today and that’s a great thing. π
